On Avatara

In Hinduism, an avatar (English: /ˈæv.ə.tɑːr/, from Sanskrit avatāra, अवतार in the Devanagari script, meaning “descent” from heaven to earth) is a deliberate descent of a deity from heaven to earth, or a descent of the Supreme Being (i.e., Vishnu for Vaishnavites) and is mostly translated into English as “incarnation”, but more accurately as “appearance” or “manifestation.”

Avatara does not necessarily mean the Birth of God.

Avatara means —-
Avatara is how and in what form he “descents” himself onto this earth.

Here is a Sanskrit verse on Avatara where the Lord/Bhagavan says he will descend to establish Dharma millenium after millenium .
