adharmābhibhavāt kṛiṣṇa praduṣyanti kula-striyaḥ
strīṣu duṣṭāsu vārṣṇeya jāyate varṇa-saṅkaraḥ
adharmābhibhavāt – for the wrongdoing show now yourself
kṛiṣṇa – krishna
praduṣyanti – by appearing
Kula-striyaḥ – to the women of the caste system
strīṣu – the womanhood
duṣṭāsu – from being polluted or destroyed
vārṣṇeya – the noble or the chief eminent man of the same lineage
jāyate – to the glory of that worship
varṇa-saṅkaraḥ – the color of the doer of good deeds.
For the wrongdoing show now yourself krishna by appearing to the women of the caste system; The womanhood from being polluted or destroyed, the noble chief eminent man of the same lineage, to the glory of that worship, the color of the doer of good deeds.
In fact, this happens in the story of Mahabharata and is true. Krishna appears infront of drupadi for the wrong being done to her when she worships him during this instance. I am however fascinated by the poet use of varna-sankarah and what else it could mean in terms of how it is used here in this verse and for what the term means overall. I am fascinated because Sankara is name of Shiva. I am neither a sanskrit poet or a scholar. I want to say if you know about this term enough one could probably write a mini-book.
